Rinse beans and soak overnight in 7½ cups water (Use this water to make part of the gravy).
Place all ingredients in pressure cooker and fill to about ¾ full with water. Reserve some water if cooker is too full. Cook 20 minutes. Let stem come down. Add reserve water. Add ground pepper to taste.
